POSITION DESCRIPTION MPA AVIONICS TECHNICIAN
Job Title: MPA Avionics Technician
Reports to: Maintenance Shop Lead
Classification: Exempt
Time Commitment: Daily Rate - Rotational
Position Summary
Avionics Technicians support all aircraft and are responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining aircraft electronic systems. These systems include communications, navigation, surveillance, flight control and electrical systems ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and Company standards. Avionics Technicians are specialists who are responsible for all of the electronics aboard the aircraft, as well as the wiring that connects to the electrical system. They are also required to ensure that aircraft logbooks and company reporting requirements are met. The position is rotational and requires 30-30, 45-45 or 60-60 days on and days off the program.
Essential Functions
- Support daily flight operations, pre- and post-flight inspections.
- Fabricate and install radio and sensor equipment following engineering drawings and adapt to on-the-spot changes as needed.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair avionics systems, including wiring, sensors, and electronic components.
- Perform inspections, testing, and software updates on avionics equipment.
- Interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to diagnose and resolve issues.
- Conduct functional and operational checks of avionics systems before and after maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records and logbook entries for all avionics work performed.
- Assist Aircraft Maintenance Technicians during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to support aircraft readiness and operational efficiency.
- Completes aircraft and engine maintenance as required or needed.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot avionic and electrical issues that may arise during aircraft operation and ensure the equipment meets mandated requirements and specifications.
- Complete all checklists, forms and reports, as required by Company, government, and/or contractual regulations or guidelines.
- Comply with all applicable safety rules and regulations.
- Develop and maintain customer relationships by providing information relating to status of current work orders or projects.
- Interface with domestic and foreign government representatives regarding the use of local logistical infrastructure.
- Must be available to work scheduled hours in the scheduled locations.
- Other duties as assigned.

Skills Required
- Working knowledge of the ARC-182 UHF and PRC-117G radio systems.
- Working knowledge of applicable FAA standards.
- Attention to detail and ability to complete required reports on a timely basis.
- Ability to work in a collegial manner with Company employees, vendors, and customers.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Minimum Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship.
- Possess a current and valid US Passport.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance and complete pre-deployment training in accordance with U.S. government standards.
- Possess a current Inspection Authorization certification.
- A&P Certification Preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Avionics Technician with relevant schooling in avionics or a related field.
- Possess and maintain all necessary certifications, licenses, and permits as required for assigned work.
Travel
- Travel and rotational deployment throughout the United States and locations outside of the United States, including austere locations, is required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a variety of physical conditions, including austere conditions;
- Ability to wear respirator or other required safety equipment;
- Ability to work in confined spaces;
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
